Where a particular supplier or suppliers are located will depend on the
cost of a supply chain review. Specifically we provide clients with the
following:
1. Initial meeting to discuss requirements (no charge): this meeting is
to discuss the basic construct of your supply chain, what some of the
challenges are, what is required in terms of review and what compliance
and contractual obligations a supplier or suppliers may have.
2. Feedback with service scope and costs: post this initial meeting the
Sustain Advisor will provide you with a full service scope and work plan
that will be fully costs. Generally a supply chain review will assess
three core areas: 1: the requirements of the client, 2: the actions or
work being undertaken by the supplier and 3: intelligence gathering
around the supplier such as environmental behavior, any legal action
pending related to the environment, labor and workplace laws, health and
safety etc. Social and professional media checks will also be undertaken
as well as any community based feedback sessions
3. Once a Sustain Advisor has been allocated and the work plan signed
off, the internal work effort will include a complete review of supplier
contracts and obligations. A matrix will be drawn up of those measures
that counter as risks, any notices of compliance that have already been
issued or those that are pending. Externally, and once deployed to the
field, the Sustain Advisor will make a direct assessment where they may
review the plant, operations or facilities, manuals, processes and
procedures. Alongside this will be third party verification with extreme
cases utilizing surveillance monitoring
4. Once all of the data and information has been gathered, the feedback
report and session are completed with a full risk profile developed with
recommendations around risk mitigation, improvements where required or,
in the most extreme cases, action points for termination of a supplier.
The costs involved are:
1. Travel and accommodation if deployed outside of Australia (not
required where a Sustain Advisor is located in the country where the
review is being undertaken). These costs are charged within the overall
agreement but, as a guide, include accommodation at a rate of no less
than $170 (AUD) per night, an economy class airfare and a per diem rate
of $65 (AUD) per day. Advisors will never spend more than a fortnight in
the country where the review is taking place if they are being deployed
from Australia. There are no costs of the Advisor is located in country
2. A standard daily rate for consulting is applied at $1650 (AUD) per
day. A minimum engagement is fourteen days. This includes any time spent
compiling the various reports and feedback sessions.
3. A client can choose to have ongoing monitoring attached to the
service scope. This means the Sustain Advisor will review the supplier
annually or, in some of the more extreme cases, quarterly to ensure they
are meeting the requirements of the contract. In this event the Sustain
Advisor will jointly manage the risk register and also be responsible
for red-flagging and reporting increases in risk or improvement in
performance.
