The Sustain Group plays an active role in the United Nations Global
Compact Network in Australia. Sustain's CEO, Matthew Tukaki, is the
Australia's UNGC Representative, Director of the Board of the UNGCNA and
its Company Secretary. He was first elected in 2010 and then re-elected
in 2012 to serve a second term until 2014.
Formed initially as a steering committee in 2009 and 2010, the UNGCNA
has transformed into a fully-fledged member based organisation providing
a range of services, forums, collaboration and knowledge exchange across
a broad spectrum of industries and interest groups.
The Australian Network was launched in Parliament House Canberra by
Minister Nick Sherry, then Minister for Superannuation and Corporate Law
and Executive Director of the UN Global Compact, Mr Georg Kell, Canberra
in May 2009.
The primary purpose of Global Compact Network Australia (GCNA) is to
offer practical help for organisations to integrate and operationalise
the 10 Principles into their core business practices and to support the
UN goals. It does so by providing a national and international platform
for dialogue, learning and influence that aims to be inclusive,
practical and leading edge.
The GCNA works with Australian business signatories of the UN Global
Compact to offer practical help for organisations to integrate and operationalise the Ten Principles into their business practices.
